Veja trainer, the first(?) fair trade trainer

Veja sports shoes are challenging the traditional sports shoe business model. By cutting out the advertising budget, these folks are offering fair trade shoes at similar prices to other sports shoes. The fabric is made using organic cotton grown by small producers in north eastern Brazil; the sole is Amazonian natural rubber gathered by a cooperative of small producers who struggle against deforestation; the sewing and assembly is assured by cooperatives where workers' fundamental rights are respected.


In accordance with FLO/Max Havelaar criteria, Veja gives a fair trade bonus to its suppliers in order to finance development projects (environment and education).
